Description of the position

Under the supervision of the manager, the cashier provides excellent customer service by greeting customers in the store, processing their transaction and ensuring their satisfaction. They perform all related tasks, in compliance with the internal processes and rules of the Organization.

Tasks

Customer service

  1. Greet and assist customers as they enter the store.
  2. Direct customers to the correct department, if necessary.
  3. Answer the phone and transfer the call to the right person, if necessary.
  4. Verify what is written on the order form given by the customer and ensure that it corresponds to the customer’s purchase.
  5. Invoice the customer for merchandise by scanning the barcode of the items or by following up on invoices issued by another department.
  6. Demagnetize the items by passing them over the plate.
  7. Ensure payment of invoices by cash, debit, credit, check or by posting the balance to an open account.
  8. Receive invoices following deliveries and ensure payment.
  9. Ensure the reimbursement to the customer in case of return of merchandise.
  10. Ensure customer satisfaction by asking questions.
  11. File documents in the appropriate place.
  12. Count the money in the cash register at the beginning and end of the shift.

Tools department

  1. Arrange incoming tool orders on shelves and in the warehouse.
  2. Replenish merchandise displays when necessary.
  3. Place tool on display and indicate correct price.
  4. Locate tools in the system indicating its location.
  5. Ensure that the shelves always contain the tools on sale and, when unavailable, print a sign to inform customers.
  6. Verify the inventory and if there is a discrepancy, fill out a form to notify the supply department.
  7. Participate in regular inventory counts with a co-worker.
  8. Maintain a clean work area.

Skills requested

Training and experience

  1. Have a high school diploma (an asset);
  2. Have experience in a similar position (an asset).
  3. Good knowledge of spoken French.
  4. Functional English (an asset).
