Description of the position

Under the supervision of the manager, the materials clerk provides excellent customer service by answering customers’ requests at the materials counter. In addition, they ask customers about their projects in order to give them the best advice and to guide them in their purchases. They perform all related tasks, in compliance with the internal processes and rules of the Organization.


  1. Greet customers at the counter.
  2. Answer their questions at the counter, on the phone or by email within 24 hours.
  3. Determine customer needs by asking the right questions and providing advice.
  4. Ensure customer satisfaction by talking to them.
  5. Direct customers to the appropriate department, as needed.
  6. Take orders for materials.
  7. Request desired delivery date and transfer information to the foreman.
  8. Place items on shelves.
  9. Prepare cash coupons or load contractors’ open accounts.
  10. Keep the work environment clean and safe.

Skills requested

Training and experience

  1. High school diploma (an asset).
  2. Experience in a similar position (an asset).
  3. Good knowledge of French spoken/written.
  4. Functional English.
